The "Under The Sea Gala" to benefit Edgewater and Leonia schools will be held at the Palisadium in Cliffside Park from 6 - 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4.

"I created the event in 2012 because I was frustrated, because there is only so much money out there that the schools can get," organizer Sandy Klein told Daily Voice. "As a parent in a community, I always felt we should be able to do more."

The foundation's fundraising goal this year is $100,000. The group has already raised $400,000 the previous years -- which bought microscopes, drawing tablets, computer labs, pedometers for gym classes, and other items.

For $75, guests at the gala get dinner, an open bar, deejay music, raffles and silent and live auctions of more than 150 items.

Parents may also bid on prizes that several classrooms worked on together to create specifically for the auction.

Premium raffle items will include a 50-inch HD 1080p Smart TV, a Dyson vacuum cleaner and or a Wii U game system.

Tickets will not be sold at the door and are available only through the end of November or until they sell out.

Meanwhile, Klein is working on seating arrangements.

"It's like a wedding," she said. "About 25 percent don't even have children in the school district, so it is good to see them still participate in the community."
